Voveran Sr (Diclofenak)
General information
Diclofenac potassium is an active ingredient of Voveran SR that belongs to a class of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID). Diclofenac is known for its anti-inflammatory properties. It is a potent anaesthetic aimed to reduce pain and inflammation of musculoskeletal complaints that involve different forms of arthritis, polymyositis, dermatomyositis, osteoarthritis, dental pain, temporomandibular joint disorder, spondylarthritis, gout attacks, pain associated with kidney stones and gallstones as well. It can also alleviate symptoms of menstrual pain, endometriosis, and dismenorrhea.
Directions
You need to consult a doctor regarding the appropriate dosage intake. Do not give up taking the medicine unless it is permitted by your doctor. Administer the intake orally with a full glass of water or milk, with or without food. This medication is not chewed, crushed or broken while taking. This is an extended-release tablet aimed to release medicine slowly after you have swallowed it. If you break the tablet it can cause too much of the medicine to be released right away, which is not desirable. Avoid taking it longer than prescribed.
Precautions
Notify your doctor of any other medications that you might be taking besides this one. Taking this drug with a certain class of other medicines may result in increasing or decreasing the effects or alter them in either drug. Before taking Voveran SR tell your doctor if your anamnesis includes hypertension, allergy, liver or kidney diseases, Parkinson’s disease, or if you are pregnant, plan to be pregnant or breastfeeding. Avoid consuming alcohol or smoking as it may interact with Voveran SR. This medicine impairs your alertness and ability to concentrate, so be careful while driving or with doing anything that requires you to be alert and attentive. Aged patients are more prone to experience potential side effects while taking this medication. Voveran SR may also cause stomach and duodenum ulcers. It can suppress the excretion of sodium and lithium in your organism. Using lithium supplements must be agreed with your doctor only.
Contraindications
Voveran is not taken by patients showing hypersensitivity to any component of this product or in case patients have sodium sensitive hypertension.
Possible side effect
Severe side effects are not expected to be produced. The most regular side effects involve sleep disorders (insomnia), xerostomia, excitability, acrimony, sedation, suppression of urine. Drug interactions
Voveran SR is able to interact with a group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs that contain salicylate (aspirin); with blood thinners used to treat and prevent thrombosis (warfarin).
Missed dose
If you have missed your dose, take it as soon as possible. In case it is near the time for the next dose, avoid taking the missed dose and keep your ordinary dosing schedule. Avoid compensating a missed dose by taking an extra one.
Overdose
If you think you overdosed the medicine, immediately contact your local poison center and notify your doctor or pharmacist. Do this even if there are no signs of discomfort or poisoning. You may need urgent medical attention. Most regular symptoms of overdose include: nausea, chest pain, palpitations, vertigo, fainting.
Storage
This medication should be stored at room temperature between 68-77 F (20-25 degrees C) away from sources of light, heat and moisture. Avoid storing it in the bathroom. Keep all drugs away from reach of children and pets.
