Isordil (Isordil)
General information
Isordil belongs to the group of medicines called nitrates. It is used to prevent and relieve chest pain (angina pectoris) due to coronary artery disease. It is a potent vasodilating agent aimed to relax smooth muscle and widen blood vessels allowing blood and oxygen flow to the heart; therefore it pumps blood more easily. Isordil lowers peripheral arterial blood pressure, decreases venous return and left ventricular filling pressure.
