Fluoxetine (Fluoxetine)
General information
Fluoxetine is an antidepressant. It works restoring serotonin balance that helps to improve mood. The medicine is prescribed for treatment of bulimia nervosa, obsessive-compulsive disorder, major depressive disorder, panic disorder, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder. It can be co-administrated with other medicines to treat depression caused by bipolar disorder.
Directions
It is recommended to take the medicine as it was prescribed by your doctor. Take it with food or milk. Consult with your doctor regarding proper dose for you. Do not exceed your recommended dose.
Precautions
Before starting your treatment with Fluoxetine tell your doctor about all conditions you can have especially about kidney disease, liver problems, seizures, diabetes, heart problems, any allergies to medicines. Middle aged people can be more sensitive to Fluoxetine. Pregnant and breastfeeding women shouldn't use it.
Contraindications

Possible side effect

Drug interaction
Fluoxetine can interact with the following medicines: alprazolam; clozapine; flecainide; haloperidol; seizure medication such as phenytoin or carbamazepine; tryptophan; vinblastine; a blood thinner such as warfarin; almotriptan, frovatriptan, sumatriptan, naratriptan, rizatriptan, or zolmitriptan; antidepressants such as amitriptyline, escitalopram, imipramine, sertraline, and others.
Missed dose
Take the missed dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time of the next intake just skip it and go back to your schedule.
Overdose
If you think you have overdosed the medicine seek emergency medical help at once. The overdose symptoms are vomiting, nausea, fever, rapid or uneven heartbeat, sleepiness, confusion, seizures, fainting, or coma.
Storage
Store the medicine at room temperature between 20-25 C (68-77 F).
